Systemic coaching

Stress is the symptom.
The lever that shifts it is
perspective.

I work with the self-employed, people in caring professions, and anyone who senses that their stress level is costing them something — sleep, nerves, relationships, clarity — and is ready to look at it differently. A calm, concrete space where you recognise which part of your stress carries you and which part eats you, and get concrete tools for the second.

Topics

What I help with.

Four topics that bring the self-employed and people in caring professions to me. You don't have to pick one — they're usually connected.

Finding your way through transitions.

Career change, relationship, family phase, crisis. What shifts: you make the next decision from clarity, not from fear.

Managing stress.

When you notice your stress level is costing you — sleep, nerves, relationships, clarity. What shifts: you recognise which part of your stress carries you and which part eats you, and you get concrete tools for the second.

Managing the everyday.

When your day runs you more than you run it. What shifts: you get your timing and your decisions back, without the cult of productivity.

Boundaries and self-confidence.

When you lack the confidence to stand up for what you need. What shifts: you can say "no" and stand behind your decisions without constantly having to justify yourself.

Three convictions

What stress really is.

Three things I believe about stress that shape every session with me.

01

The stress scale.

Most conversations about stress begin with the wrong question: "How do I get rid of stress?" That isn't the question. The question is where you stand right now, how you got there, and what keeps you there. Only once you know that is it worth thinking about direction.

02

Good stress exists.

Not every form of stress is dysfunctional. There is stress that carries you. That motivates you. That shows you something matters to you. The goal is not a stress-free life. The goal is to build a relationship with your stress that doesn't hurt you.

03

Stress as a status symbol.

Stress has become a status symbol. "I have so much to do" means "I'm needed, I'm worth something." That's a belief, not a fact. My work starts with the convictions you carry about your life without ever having questioned them.

Less about the right answers,
more about the right questions.

Process

How I work.

Three steps. Nothing more is needed before we can start.

Flat, loss of meaningMotivating stressExhaustion, cynicism

We start where you are right now. Not where you think you should be.

01

Intro call.

15 minutes, free of charge, by phone. You fill in a short form, I get back to you. We see if it's a fit, and you get a first read on your situation. No commitment.

02

Single sessions or package.

A session lasts 60 minutes. For short check-ins or follow-ups there is a 30-minute format. You decide how often we meet. For noticeable change I recommend six to ten sessions.

03

Work between sessions.

You get small, concrete prompts. No journals, no apps. Things that fit into your day and that you can let go of once they've done their job.

For teams, companies and staff I also work on site. Workshops and one-on-one support, on request.

About me

Anna-Maria von Platen.

Anna-Maria von Platen, portrait

I'm Anna-Maria von Platen. Stress management coach, and in my main role I lead the Privatschulen Villa Elisabeth. Both roles have shown me how structural stress is, and how closely it's tied to what we believe about ourselves.

In my work with teachers and educators I noticed how important it is to know your own limits and hold them. We can only care for others when we take good care of ourselves.

My work is not therapy. As a trained Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) I recognise when someone is dealing with a condition that needs clinical treatment — and then I am not the right person. For everything else that creates pressure in daily life, I often am.

What a mistake that was!

When I was offered a “coaching session” with Frau von Platen, I was a little skeptical. Until then I had never engaged with the topic of coaching, and I believed something like that couldn't help me with my sense of insecurity. What a mistake that was! In every single coaching session, through Frau von Platen's expertise and her compassionate conversations, I gained a new insight, a new bit of support in working through my insecurities. I'm deeply grateful that I accepted the offer, and I can warmly recommend to anyone who wants to get to know themselves better and find a healthier way of relating to themselves and the world: let Frau von Platen support you in every area of life.

FAQ

Frequent questions.

Is this therapy?
No. I am a stress management coach, not a psychotherapist. If you are dealing with a psychological condition that needs clinical treatment, I am not the right contact. We'll name that openly in the intro call, and I'll help you find the right place.
How many sessions do I need?
It depends on what you bring. For noticeable change I recommend six to ten sessions. Some people come once or twice for a single, clearly defined topic. Others I accompany over months.
Online, on site, or both?
Single sessions happen online, via video call. For teams and staff I also come in person.
What happens if I have to cancel an appointment?
Up to 24 hours before, free of charge. After that I bill the session, except in genuine emergencies. Just write to me — we'll find a way.
How does payment work?
By bank transfer. Single sessions after the session, packages before the first appointment. You get a simple invoice with all the relevant details.
Is this confidential?
Yes, fully. Before we start, we both sign a written confidentiality agreement. What we discuss stays between us, and I keep no records beyond date and topic.
Who is this not suitable for?
For people who currently have a psychological condition that needs clinical treatment, and for people who don't yet bring a real wish to change. Coaching only works if you're ready to do something. I'm not a rescue — I'm a companion.
